Spring is here at last and we have lots of young calves on the farm - and also 3 pairs of adorable twin lambs from the sheep that we keep over the Winter months. These little cuties are right next door to the holiday cottages.
Gold Award For Green Tourism!
Conservation, Wildlife and Green issues are close to our hearts at Red Hall Farm Holiday Cottages, so it is really important to us to belong to the Green Tourism Business Scheme www.green-business.co.uk , as they have the most credible green tourism certification programme in the World!
A qualified assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme undertook an accreditation grading visit in November and following this we were delighted to learn that... we have beaten last year's score and maintained our GOLD Award.

16th January 16
The snow arrived this weekend and you're never too old to build a snow man!
The views onto the Northern Fells are stunning.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Red Hall Farm Holiday Cottages!! The decorations are up, the real Christmas trees are assembled and dressed.
Christmas and New Year get booked up very quickly, so if you're thinking about next year, please get in touch soon to avoid diappointment.
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2016 to all our guests past, present and future and look forward to seeing you again soon!!
We just wanted to say a big thank you to all our past guests who have been in touch following the recent Storm Desmond.
We are all fine thank you. It was an extraordinarily wet and windy weekend, but in our area, things have not really been affected by the weather, a bit of flooding on some roads, but nothing major. The power remained on and our holiday cottage guests were still getting out and about. We are lucky to have the benefits of being on high ground, and not close to any main rivers, so we have never had any flooding issues to worry about thankfully.
The worst hit areas have been in Carlisle, Cockermouth and Keswick, all of which are some miles from us.The community spirit shown across these areas in recent days is truly remarkable. There are many parts of Cumbria which haven't been affected and the areas that have have been through this before and they will bounce back quickly. Shops in Kesiwck and Cockermouth are reopening already and we all want to share this beautiful place with all who choose to come here and see it for themselves.
This female Black Redstart was spotted on the holiday cottages roof on October 30th by Martin.
The Black Redstart is a very rare bird that is only spotted 2 or 3 times a year in Cumbria, so it was a real privelidge to be able to see this bird. Luckily our holiday cottage guests, who are keen bird spotters, were also able to enjoy this sight and take some photos.
