Great Days Out - Aira Force

Aira force

Tumbling torrents and paddling pools

Aira Force cascades over boulders and stepping stones, creating a series of natural pools - great for picnics and dangling toes!

Follow the woodland path upstream for great views across Ullswater. The waterfall itself is an amazing 65 foor drop - you can feel it on your face from the viewing platform.


Great Days Out - Birdoswald Roman Fort


One of the most beautifully sited of the Hadrian`s Wall Forts. Birdoswald has the longest continuous section of Hadrian`s Wal, as well as a museum of Roman artefacts (and a tea room). Open every day from April to end of October and then holidays and weekends.

Great Days Out - Allonby Beach


This 5 mile crescent of sand and shingle is just 20 minutes drive away. With views across the Solway to South-West Scotland, it`s part of an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Allony is also home to the famous Twentyman`s ice-cream shop and also has a great park for children to play.

If you fancy taking your bikes with you, there is a great cycle path from Allonby to Maryport, taking you right along this magnicent coastline!

Great Days Out - Walby Farm Park


Walby Fram Park, near Crosby-On-Eden, is a great day out for all the family. As well as it`s high octance indoor play zone, this farm attraction offers many sunny day activities, including go-cart tracks, trampolines and adventure playgrounds. Part of a working family farm, Walby is accredited by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and the animal barn offers a wide selection of well cared for animals.

Beautiful location, very central (we visited Penrith, Carlisle, Gretna Green and Keswick).
The property has been converted to a high standard and beds were comfortable.
Lots of nice touches such as jam, eggs and cake upon arrival and Joanne even put the log burner on for us before we arrived so that the cottage was warmed up for us.
There is a lot of information from tourist areas locally, which is extremely helpful if you are not familiar with the area.
Lovely relaxing break, hope to visit again soon.
