We were so pleased to see that the four Mistlethrush chicks from the apple tree nest have successfully fledged!
This is Pip at 11am - feeling cooler and much more comfortable!
The lovely Summer warm weather has now arrived. This means that it`s time for Pip to be clipped out for Summer!
His coat is so thick that he needs to have a haircut at the beginning of each Summer, so that he doesn`t get too hot.
This is Pip at 10am.

We were pleased to see this Mistle Thrush has nested in one of the low apple trees in the orchard, here at Red Hall Farm.
This is the second nest that we have seen. The previous nest having aready fledged three young chicks in April.
The swallows were back to their nesting places in the old sandstone barns at Red Hall Farm mid April. It`s lovely to see them swooping around the place!!

Here they are - 2 eggs have been produced at the Lake District Osprey Project!
For the fourteenth year in a row ospreys are breeding near Bassenthwaite Lake, and are using a nest near the Lake which has been previously occupied. The nest has a High Definition camera, with live pictures being sent to the viewing area at Whinlatter (just twenty minutes from Red Hall Farm). You can also visit open air viewpoints at Dodd Wood which is just a short drive away from Red Hall Farm Holiday Cottages.
