These Waxwings have been seen regularly at the near-by village of Dalston during December.
Dozens of these waxwings seem to like their Dalston habitat for the Winter months, before they migrate back to Northern Europe in the Spring.
Today's walk from Keswick over Latrigg was brilliant for blowing the Christmas and New Year cobwebs away.
Glorious sunshine and dramatic scenery - Happy New Year everyone!!
Many thanks to our recent guest Peter, for sending us his amazing photos recently taken on a stay here in The Old Bothy - showing the Lake District off in spectacular November weather.

The Old Grainstore recent Trip Advisor review::
"Modern well equipped property, very comfortable, situated in a good location for exploring the north of the Lake District, Carlisle, Solway. Very welcoming and helpful hosts. Ranks with the best properties that we have stayed in"
Wishing you'd booked a get away for the school holidays?!
We still have one week left in The Old Bothy from Friday 12th August for 7 nights and Tuesday 2nd August for 3 nights.
Or plan ahead for next time - with lots of space to play and the experience of being on a working farm, we're the perfect place for a getaway with the kids.
"We both had a fantastic week at the Old Bothy. On arrival we found a welcome basket with fresh eggs, homemade bread and jam. The cottage is fully equiped and very comfortable. I would highly recommend staying here, a great place to recharge the batteries. The lakes are easily accessible and makes a perfect base for touring the area. The 4 dogs at the farm are the most friendly dogs you will meet. We hope to return soon. "
Spring is here at last and we have lots of young calves on the farm - and also 3 pairs of adorable twin lambs from the sheep that we keep over the Winter months. These little cuties are right next door to the holiday cottages.
